A note from Leah:
Be Your Own Healer started as a program that teaches self-massage techniques to release physical and emotional tension from the body. The main goal of the course was to help adventure athletes and yogis tend to their bodies and maintain the active lifestyle they love. I would have gone on teaching this way if Hurricane Helene had not hit Asheville the week before our next cohort start date. In the days that followed the hurricane’s aftermath, I taught many Be Your Own Healer classes to local survivors and I noticed two things; first is that the average person does not have a strong body/mind connection, which makes it difficult for them to identify when they are ‘out of their body” due to trauma. and second, that we survive, heal, grow and thrive in community. Anyone can become their own healer on their own, but what would it feel like to be a part of an online community full of people committed to increasing their self-awareness, loving their bodies and lifting each other up?

FAQ
When does the program start & what is the time commitment?
We start Wednesday, January 8th at 7:00 pm EST. Live classes will be 60 minutes on Wednesdays. In total there are 10 hours worth of live content.
Where is class held & what if I miss a class?
Class will be held on Zoom and you will receive a recording of each class via email.
What bodywork tools do I need to fully participate in this program?
At the very least you need a lacrosse ball, gua sha, and oil (I recommend cbd but coconut or olive oil would do). These tools will be provided for you if you join this Black Friday & Small Business Saturday.
How will the program help me with specific pain points (e.g., back pain, shoulder tension)?
We walk through each area of the body so you can explore how/where you uniquely hold tension. From here you can identify specific movements and bodywork tools to incorporate into your personal practice.

a lifetime of healing my own physical trauma
Thanks to my adventurous childhood, I sustained a magnitude of injuries before I turned 18. This understanding for healing the body fueled my career as a massage therapist helping outdoor adventure athletes train better, recover faster and prevent future injuries.
After 23 years of practicing yoga, 7 years of teaching and 300+ hours of training, this program is finally coming to life. It is a combination of everything I would teach to my 1:1 massage clients, but in an online group setting, to empower as many people as possible.
This is the personal practice I developed after back-to-back traumas, including pregnancy, abortion and a car accident (four months that caused me to feel disconnected to my body), and what I used every day to get back in my body.
I focused on curiosity, exploration, non judgement and using the breath to unlock areas of tension that would have otherwise remained stagnant and unwavering.
